Chain of Pain by Shawn Elizabeth
copyright 2012
I've the heart of a poet
And the spirit of a child
And also there's pain in there,
Running 'round wild.....
I've the mind of a scholar
And also a child
For still there is pain in there
Running 'round wild.......
Been a chain of pain
Around my heart
A deep down sorrow
That set me apart
Been a chain of pain
Upon my wings;
I MUST CUT LOOSE;
I MUST SET FREE!
I'm gonna break, that chain of pain
Cut it loose, and set it free
Gonna melt, melt it down
Mold it into stepping stones
Crossin' over, these troubled waters
Get across, and out from under
And when I'm free, I'll really fly
Without the weight,
I've left behind.......
I'm the last generation
Of a cycle that's been spinning
For way too many seasons, unaware
I'm the black wool of the flock
Declaring, this is where it stops
And raising burning questions
From their grave
I'm gonna break, that chain of pain
Cut it loose, and set it free
Gonna melt, melt it down
Mold it into stepping stones
Crossin' over, these troubled waters
Get across, and out from under
And when I'm free, I'll really fly
Without the weight,
I've left behind.....
I'm gonna break, that chain of pain
Cut it loose, and set it free
For my life, is now my own
Wherever I shall be will be my home
I'm gonna break, that chain of pain
Cut it loose, and set it free,
And when I'm free, I'll really fly
Without that weight,
I've left behind.......................
